THE FOUR RULES

1. ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED.

2. NEVER POINT YOUR MUZZLE AT SOMETHING YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO DESTROY.

3. KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET AND YOU ARE READY TO SHOOT.

4. KNOW YOUR TARGET AND WHAT'S BEYOND.

Winston Churchill said
"A GENTLEMAN, SELDOM, IF EVER, NEEDS A GUN.
BUT WHEN HE DOES, HE NEEDS IT VERY BADLY!"
Si Vis Paceum Para Bellum

Sam Adams, more than beer

“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquillity of servitude than the animating contest of freedom, — go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen”
Samuel Adams

Lincoln on power

"We must prevent these things being done, by either congresses or courts — The people — the people — are the rightful masters of both Congresses, and courts — not to overthrow the Constitution, but to overthrow the men who pervert it —" Abraham Lincoln

A ban? Really?

The headline reads Assault rifle ban a common sense solution

Here's the article

A hit piece written by Calvin Warner Opinion Columnist. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, even if they are misguided and foolish.

How many more tragedies need to happen before the United States joins the modern world in banning assault weapons?

Well Calvin, "assault weapons" is a term made up by the VPC back in the 80's to mislead people. True assault rifles, the select fire version our military carries, are regulated by the NFA34. A law enacted because during Prohibition, the gangsters were fond of using full auto weapons to take care of the competition. Nothing says leave me alone like a 1927 Thompson with a 50 round drum.

The Second Amendment was written in a time before semi-automatics. Banning assault weapons is a common-sense way to curb gun violence in America, and I don’t think anyone will feel that their rights are being seriously trampled on.

Really? My rights would be trampled on. I own a couple of the so called "assault weapons" that you vilify. They have never been used to harm anyone. I use them for target shooting. Banning them would trampleall over my right to own property. Every time one of you gun haters says "common sense" we know you want to ban something.

How will our government respond to the Aurora, Colo., massacre in July? Reports indicate that the gunman bought his ammunition anonymously online. Surely we can at least agree that it should be illegal to anonymously purchase machine gun ammunition over the Internet without having to pass any kind of background check.

Machine gun ammunition? Right here you just proved to the world that you have no clue. The AR15 uses 5.56 NATO ammunition. Remington developed this as the .223 back in the late 50's. It's used in all kinds of rifles, mostly for varmint hunting. It's also the same ammo used in the M240 SAW, a true machine gun. The 7.62 NATO round, also know as the 308 Winchester is in the same category. A great deer hunting round and also used in the M60 machine gun. Maybe before you spout off you should do a little research.

Ammunition was at one time recorded into a book at the time of purchase. Finally, in 1984, congress did away with this requirement. Why? Because all those years, not one crime was ever solved by keeping track of ammo.

The Second Amendment ensures the right to “a well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”
In a Pew Research Center poll taken after the shooting, 47 percent of Americans said they believe it is more important to pass laws controlling gun ownership than protect the Second Amendment, while 46 percent said protecting the Second Amendment was more important.

The "militia" mentioned in the 2nd Amendment is covered under Title 10 of the US code. Go read it, you are in the militia. You need to read past that part and pick out the 8 key words. Right of the People and Shall not be Infringed. Anything the government does to restrict the 2nd Amendment INFRINGES on my rights.

Polls aren't a good indicator of anything. They can be manipulated by the pollsters by the questions asked and the manner they ask them.

The bottom line is that the world is very different now than it was in 1776. How long will we keep pretending it’s the same? The “arms” we are talking about are nothing like the “arms” the Founding Fathers were talking about.

Holy shit. I can't believe you are repeating this tired old argument. Every gun hater in the last 50 years has used this as "evidence" that we should ban one gun or another. If that's the case, you need to destroy your computer and any other modern communication devices you own. Hand operated presses and quill and ink are all you should be allowed to spout your idiocy. While you have that quill pen out, put it to parchment and ask you college for a refund. It's obvious that you haven't learned much.

Speaking of letters

Yesterday, there was another interesting letter.

Mr. Halls hits all of the Bradyites talking points about "assault weapons" at gun shows and "armor piercing" ammo on the internet. Of course no rant would be complete without the whole "founders couldn't know what technology we would have" crap.

His solution is to amend the 2nd Amendment. I guess he forgot to read the Heller and McDonald decisions. The SCOTUS, in the Heller and McDonald rulings clarified what the 2nd Amendment means. It means you will keep your hands off my guns, period. Do these people not understand the words "Right of the People" and "Shall no be Infringed"?

Even some of the comments spew the same tired old arguments. When I pointed out that true assault rifles are highly regulated under NFA34 and not available at gun shows, I got the typical Bradyite response. "But they are available on the street from criminals". Do tell. And just where are these fully automatic military rifles coming from? I haven't read about any armories being robbed.

The Bradyites just don't understand that they are losing. Gun sales are up with women being one of the fastest growing demographics. I even saw this story about a firearms instructor.

Actions speak volumes about a person, and that is why I’m impressed with Vicki Kawelmacher. Vicki is a firearms instructor in Reno, Nevada. She specializes in teaching women. She offers free classes to students who have a signed protective order. A protective order, also called a restraining order in some other states, means these students convinced a judge there is a serious threat to them or their children. These students need to learn self-defense right now.

Good for her and any other instructor that offers this.

As always, one of those dead guys with no clue said it best.

Tence Coxe said;

Who are the militia? are they not ourselves. Is it feared, then, that we shall turn our arms each man against his own bosom. Congress have no power to disarm the militia. Their swords, and every other terrible implement of the soldier, are the birthright of an American.

Catching up

Let's start with the IFC/NRA rally Saturday.

I got there and got set up in plenty of time. I had 5 different handguns and 3 rifles for people to try out if they wanted, or the could shoot their own and even share with their friends. A special tip of the hat to Mike McGowan. He brought a couple more rifles for the table and the ACSR was a big hit. It was a busy and more importantly a safe day. It seems like we had a bigger crowd than last year. I'm already looking forward to next year. It's one of the best jobs I don't get paid for. A special thanks also to Brownell's. This is the third year they have opened their range and been a major sponsor of the event. I know I thank them by trying to spend my money with them for the parts and tools I need. Everyone should support them every chance you get. They have always been helpful when I have called and they are always ready to find a answer if they don't know.

Letters

One of my favorite parts of any newspaper is the letters to the editor. They can be so much fun and with a internet presence, the comments can be even more fun. There was a letter Saturday that was mostly satire even though some couldn't see it. It got a lot more interesting in the comments. One commenter named Ron McCune had some rather interesting ideas about gun ownership.

Now I know a lot of you are wondering how are we going to pass laws that will keep laws out of the hands of criminals but allow law abiding citizens to buy guns. Well that is easy to devise such a law. I have been trying for a long time to get this law passed. The law simply says that we can buy guns but all we are allowed to buy are two MORE guns. Certified hunters and rural farmers/ranchers can buy a several more. But that is all the guns we can buy. You can keep the guns you already have but will be allowed to only buy two more guns.

What's troubling is this guy is serious. We would be "allowed" to buy 2 more guns? Go read the whole comment.

This part was rather interesting too.
In the old days before criminals were able to get guns we the people stood up to criminals and challenged them to not do wrong but with guns we are scared to face the criminals

When was this magical time that criminals didn't have guns? It must have been before guns were even invented. The day after guns were invented, criminals were looking at ways to use them. Of course a little research shows us where he gets these weird ideas, He's from Chicago, the most violent city in the country. Last weekend alone 37 people were shot, 9 fatally. And just how is that gun control working for you Ron?

New York shooting

The shooter in New York killed one person and was then killed by the police. The police fired 16 rounds between the two of them and 9 innocent bystanders were either hit with gunfire or ricochets and flying pieces of debris. I watched the video and to the 2 cops credit, they didn't have a lot of time to do much. With the adrenalin that got dumped into their systems, I was surprised they didn't fire to slide lock. The shooter did not fire at the police. He did point his gun at them, so I think that by holding his fire, he committed suicide by cop.

Finally, penalizing a 3 year old because of his name.

Go read this.

This is living proof that when some people get a position of power, they lose all sense. common or otherwise. We desperately need to get these liberal idiot pisswits out of our education system. They have carried "zero tolerance" to a whole new level. Like the youngster punished for waving a "gun" shaped piece of pizza. Or the girl suspended for having nail clippers. I remember more than one suspended or otherwise punished for drawing a picture that even resembled a gun. Excuse me for this, but, have we lost our fucking minds???

If I Wanted To Save America

In response to my "If I wanted America to fail" post, reader Marty III sent me the link to this video.

This is some great advice. It's also true that we are going to have to start at the local level in cleaning out the Liberals that would regulate us into absolute submission. Then work our way up the chain.

Jack Spirko only has the one video. I hope we hear more from him, and soon. It all starts with a single voice. He does however have a podcast site that has a lot of great information on it.
