Looks like the UN isn't going to get their ATT that they wanted. The U.S., Russia and China were the most adamant about not signing it.
Amnesty International’s Suzanne Trimel, quoted by the Huffington Post, accused the NRA of “spreading lies” about the treaty.
“Basically,” Trimel reportedly stated, “what they're saying is that the arms trade treaty will have some impact on domestic, Second Amendment gun rights. And that is just false, completely false.”
Too bad for you, The American gun owners made it known to Congress that we would not surrender our rights to a bunch of despots and dictators in NYC. Every time these gun hating asshats don't get their way, they blame the NRA.
51 Senators sent a letter to P5resident Obama stating that even if passed, the Senate would not ratify it. I can't find the link, but good for them.
Gun haters in the Senate are at it again
A gaggle of Democrat Senators led by Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ) and Chuck Schumer (D-NY) have proposed an amendment to S. 3414, the Cybersecurity Act of 2012, that would ban all magazines, stripper clips, drums, and belts that would hold more than 10 rounds. They do carve out an exception for .22 LR. How generous of them. The rest of the haters that jumped on the wagon,Barbara Boxer (D-CA), Jack Reed (D-RI), Bob Menendez (D-NJ), Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), and Diane Feinstein (D-CA). No surprises there.
This includes "possession" of said magazines. There are millions of these evil sheet metal (sometimes plastic) boxes in the hands of honest people. That's the only size I have for my rifles that take detachable mags. Are we supposed to turn them in? If so, are we going to be compensated? By who? The taxpayers? Of course there are enough votes in the Senate to shut them up. And there is no change it would pass the house.
The Aurora shooting
I've been quiet on this because unlike the blood dancers, I would like a few facts. One of the most amazing facts is the 41% spike in gun sales in the last week.
You can take 2 things from this. People are tired of being victims. Since over the years SCOTUS has ruled that the police don't have to protect anyone. Their duty is to the "public at large". I do understand this, what are the chances there's going to be a cop there when a crime happens. Criminals avoid cops like the plague.
Another thing you can get from this, maybe people are worried what the government might do. The Bradyites and the rest of the gun haters were dancing in the blood of the victims before they had all the bodies out of the theater. Most of them calling for more gun control and outright bans. While we in the gun community were respectful of the victims and expressing our condolences, the gun haters were jumping for joy because they had victims to use for their own evil purposes. People need to understand, gun control has never been about guns. It's about control. When we forget that, we lose.
But, but, but.....
I support the 2nd Amendment, but....
This spikes my bullshit meter. Most of these are known as Fudds, after Elmer Fudd of Buggs Bunny fame. They will give their full support except we can ban (insert type). As long as their hunting gun is safe they are happy.
They never think about the fact that Uncle Joe's Remington 700 deer rifle is the same rifle, with a couple changes, that is the military's main sniper rifle. So their claim that no one "needs" a military rifle falls a little short. Besides that, I have read the Constitution and I have yet to find the word hunting anywhere.
The Bradyites love the Fudds. They tell them they only want to ban certain types of guns and the Fudds all shake their heads in agreement. The Communists used to call people like that "useful idiots". They go through life thinking everything is fine as long as they can go hunting.
Now don't get me wrong, I have hunted and find it a very enjoyable sport. But I understand why the 2nd Amendment was written. I guess no one understands "Shall not be infringed".
