Pizza delivery is often cited as one of the most dangerous occupations nationwide, though the Bureau of Labor Statistics doesn't track the specific numbers. But according to preliminary data for 2013, the occupational class they belong to—“drivers, sales workers, and truck drivers”—experienced the highest fatality rate of any job, registering 748 deaths.

I'm getting tired of hearing how "dangerous" it is to be a cop. Sure, it has it's risks. IIRC it was 2012 that there were 61 cops killed in the line of duty. The majority of them were due to traffic accidents. There were a few that died due to gunfire, but not all that many. Heart attacks on the job got several.
Pizza drivers, especially the ones that work for the major chains, get sent to a location, with food. I guarantee you, if I was going to rob someone, I'd call and order a couple of pizza's and ask for change for 100. Not only will my victim bring me 100 dollars plus, he'll feed me too. We had a short spell about a year ago where 3 drivers were robbed in about 4 or 5 days. Two of them were from the same company. It just happened to be in our delivery area. In one of the rougher neighborhoods. There is one apartment complex in our area where we will not deliver. Back before I started they had a couple of drivers robbed there. Thankfully no one was hurt.
I work for a great boss. He's from Bosnia and came here years ago as a political refugee. He went from being a pizza delivery driver to owning his own store. He told me that he's fine with me carrying as long as I have my permit. I've worked for him for 8 years and so far I have never had any trouble. I did get a bit of a fright one night. I took a delivery and when I showed up, the house was empty. To the point that there weren't even curtains on the windows. Our car unlocks the doors when you put it in park. I immediately re-locked the doors, raised my shirt and got a good firm grip on my gun. It seems theidiot customer had moved and forgot to tell the cashier when he called in.
I would imagine that cab drivers are in that group too. They are known to carry cash and they too will come to you with a phone call. And like pizza drivers, they even furnish a get-away car.
