THE FOUR RULES

1. ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED.

2. NEVER POINT YOUR MUZZLE AT SOMETHING YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO DESTROY.

3. KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET AND YOU ARE READY TO SHOOT.

4. KNOW YOUR TARGET AND WHAT'S BEYOND.

Winston Churchill said
"A GENTLEMAN, SELDOM, IF EVER, NEEDS A GUN.
BUT WHEN HE DOES, HE NEEDS IT VERY BADLY!"
Si Vis Paceum Para Bellum

Sam Adams, more than beer

“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquillity of servitude than the animating contest of freedom, — go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen”
Samuel Adams

Lincoln on power

"We must prevent these things being done, by either congresses or courts — The people — the people — are the rightful masters of both Congresses, and courts — not to overthrow the Constitution, but to overthrow the men who pervert it —" Abraham Lincoln

Some people just piss me off

The Grandkids are here for a few days, so Saturday morning we went fishing. It is one of the true joys to take the boys to the lake. Even if they don't catch anything, we still have fun and they get little tidbits of information that I hope will stick with them.

We got to the lake and each of the boys got their rods and tackle boxes. They each have to have their own. We had out bucket to put fish in and in the empty bucket was a bag. We always take a bag with us so we don't leave any trash behind. Part of the whole good steward thing. We got to our spot and the amount of trash just left was disgusting. After I got the boys settled in I started policing the area. There were bait containers, paper towels and even broken bobbers. By the time I was done the bag was over half full. This is the standard Wal-Mart bag.

I was raised to appreciate the outdoors for both it's ability to feed me and for the natural beauty of it all. Why some people would want to spoil it by trashing the area just leaves me dumbfounded. I've seen this at a lot of public ranges too. People leaving targets and even small appliances just laying around after they shoot them full of holes. I belong to the Izaak Walton League in Warren county so our range is private. Yet there are still people leaving their crap laying around. Not as much, but it still happens.

Sometimes I wonder if these trash leaving people live like they leave their area. Do they just throw trash out in the middle of their living room floor? Do they trash up their yard? I bet not. they know what they are doing, they just don't care. And that's what pisses me off.
