THE FOUR RULES

1. ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED.

2. NEVER POINT YOUR MUZZLE AT SOMETHING YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO DESTROY.

3. KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET AND YOU ARE READY TO SHOOT.

4. KNOW YOUR TARGET AND WHAT'S BEYOND.

Winston Churchill said
"A GENTLEMAN, SELDOM, IF EVER, NEEDS A GUN.
BUT WHEN HE DOES, HE NEEDS IT VERY BADLY!"
Si Vis Paceum Para Bellum

Sam Adams, more than beer

“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquillity of servitude than the animating contest of freedom, — go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen”
Samuel Adams

Lincoln on power

"We must prevent these things being done, by either congresses or courts — The people — the people — are the rightful masters of both Congresses, and courts — not to overthrow the Constitution, but to overthrow the men who pervert it —" Abraham Lincoln

Possum update

Maybe you read this.

Well, again last night/this morning, I was up at 0215. I let the dogs out and decided I could catch up since the gun show this weekend had me a little behind. I read a while and noticed that the only one dog had come back. Sam is our little escape artist and anytime he can he like to go visit the neighbors. I called him several times and got no response. Shoes, flashlight and a fresh smoke and off I go. The first place I checked was where he had the possum cornered the other day. He wasn't there so I went down to the far corner of the yard. There, under the remains of a mostly dead lilac i found him. Standing over the dead body of a medium sized possum. I took the possum and threw it over the fence in the general direction of the trashcans. One more time I had to physically carry him back to the house. I don't know if he killed the possum or if it died for some other reason. I have seen him kill snakes before so I guess it's possible. It was 0330 by the time I got back to sleep. That sure makes the day a little longer.

The gun show this weekend was a little slow. Saturday was cloudy with a little rain mixed in. That probably helped get people to the show. Sunday was sunny and nice and by 2:00 PM it was dead. JD from Ankeny stopped by. He was scooping up as much 6.8 SPC as he could carry.
