Since the alleged writer Kaul has decided that NRA members and members id Congress should be murdered, There are ethics complaints being filed with the parent organization Gannett. Ity seems that calling for the murder and torture of people is against their code of ethics.
Of course if anything is done will be a whole other matter. But in the mean time, Kaul should be carful about pissing of people that are known gun owners. We do after all know where he lives.

On Sunday, Dec. 30 th 2012, columnist Donald Kaul has came out of retirement to write a horrific screed in which, because he disagrees with their suggestions to stop school shootings, he appears to accuse N.R.A. members of not caring that 20 children were murdered in their school. As a NRA member this could not be farther from the truth.
One of his points in the article calls for designating the NRA as a terrorist organization, simply because they hold beliefs with which he disagrees. This also could not be farther from the truth . NRA members are dedicated to promoting safety and preserving our rights, all of them, codified in the Bill of Rights. Isn't there something in your policy about being committed to diversity? Or is it only a commitment to diversity that you don't disagree with?
Also he points out The Second Amendment protects an individual, civil and human right to own and carry guns, yet he then calls for the imprisonment and/or murder by police of those of us who chose to lawfully exercise this right (I'm sorry but I can read his statement "' prying the guns from their cold, dead hands' thing works for me" as anything other than a direct threat to my future well being .
Speaking of threats, he suggests that certain political leaders, simply because he disagrees with their political beliefs, should be dragged to death behind a truck unless they agree to abandon their principles. Again is this the sort of "commitment to diversity" your company tolerates and encourages? The direct trheat of violence of a public official is also a felony.
I find it hard to believe that the editorial board of the register would even allow such treats to be published. I do understand that gun control can be a very emotional subject. But for a "writer" to theaten violence against law abiding politicians and citizens is unbelieveable. I further believe that the editorial board should be reprimanded for this screed that does nothing to further the debate, and Kaul should be banned from writing articles, he's retired, he needs to stay there.

I did not agree with Jan Mickelson's view of this. (Local radio host, for those not from Iowa) Jan treated it as "satire" or "his pen going off," which it clearly isn't. I could see a little quip, but Kaul goes on to be quite graphic in his desire to have others commit violence to people who have done nothing to him at all.
I didn't hear the Mickelson bit. I think Kaul is a self centered asshole. Be sure to check out today's Kaul screed where he tries to apologize. I ripped his ass.
