THE FOUR RULES

1. ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED.

2. NEVER POINT YOUR MUZZLE AT SOMETHING YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO DESTROY.

3. KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET AND YOU ARE READY TO SHOOT.

4. KNOW YOUR TARGET AND WHAT'S BEYOND.

Winston Churchill said
"A GENTLEMAN, SELDOM, IF EVER, NEEDS A GUN.
BUT WHEN HE DOES, HE NEEDS IT VERY BADLY!"
Si Vis Paceum Para Bellum

Sam Adams, more than beer

“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquillity of servitude than the animating contest of freedom, — go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen”
Samuel Adams

Lincoln on power

"We must prevent these things being done, by either congresses or courts — The people — the people — are the rightful masters of both Congresses, and courts — not to overthrow the Constitution, but to overthrow the men who pervert it —" Abraham Lincoln

Screwed in the middle of the night

The New York Legislature has rammed a gun control measure through in the dark of night. Signed by Cuomo before the sun had come up. Own it New York, you voted for these usurpers of the Constitution.

What they passed. and what it is going to mean.

  • Further restrict assault weapons to define them by a single feature, such as a pistol grip. Current law requires two features.
  •  One feature? get out the hacksaw and cut of your evil bayonet lugs. Because we can't have drive by bayonettings.

  • Make the unsafe storage of assault weapons a misdemeanor.
  •  How is the state going to know unless they show up to see your storage method? And who is to decide what constitutes safe?

  • Mandate a police registry of assault weapons.
  • Yep, because that would never be used for confiscation. Just ask all of the 100 million or so disarmed and killed by their own governments.

  • Establish a state registry for all private sales, with a background check done through a licensed dealer for a fee, excluding sales to immediate relatives.
  • As a gun dealer, I should like this, increase in business and all. It just goes against my sense of private property rights. Why do I need the states permission to sell something I own.

  • Require a therapist who believes a mental health patient made a credible threat to use a gun illegally to report the
threat to a mental health director who would then have to report serious threats to the state Department of Criminal Justice Services. A patient’s gun could be taken from him or her.
  •  Yeah, no possibility of abuse here.

  • Ban the Internet sale of assault weapons.
  •  Good luck with that. Of course with registration it might be a trick telling them where your AR went.

  • Require stores that sell ammunition to register with the state, run background checks on buyers of bullets and keep an electronic database of bullet sales.
  •  The background check system is going to grind to a full stop. A background check on a box of 22LR is beyond stupid. But hey, they are politicians.

  • Restrict ammunition magazines to seven bullets, from the current national standard of 10. Current owners of higher-capacity magazines would have a year to sell them out of state. Someone caught with eight or more bullets in a magazine could face a misdemeanor charge.
  •  Where did anyone come up with this number? What makes 7 rounds so much safer that 8? I have 8 round mags in both of my 1911's as the main mags and carry 7 rounders as a reload. Does that make me that much more dangerous? Does that 8th round turn you into a monster?

  • Require that stolen guns be reported within 24 hours. Otherwise, the owner would face a possible misdemeanor.
  •  I have never met a gun owner that would not report a theft as soon as they possibly could.

  • Increase sentences for gun crimes including for taking a gun on school property.
  •  A nutcase that is going to shoot up a school, or other gun free zone is going to be stopped because he could spend a extra few months in jail. OK.

  • Increase penalties for shooting first responders, called the “Webster provision.” Two firefighters were killed when shot by a person who set a fire in the western New York town of Webster last month. The crime would be punishable by life in prison without parole.
  •  Their lives are more important than yours. Remember that. You are just sheep to be hearded as the master shall decree.

  • Limit the state records law to protect handgun owners from being identified publicly. The provision would allow a handgun permit holder a means to maintain privacy under the Freedom of Information law.
  •  Finally, a measure I can support. I don't have a problem with my name being public record. I do have a problem seeing it in print because I'm a gun owner.

  • Require pistol permit holders or those who will be registered as owners of assault rifles to be recertified at least every five years to make sure they are still legally able to own the guns.
  •  Why every 5 years? Why at all? Who is going to determine the criteria for certification?

Cuomo want's to be President. I think this should be the torpedo that sinks his hopes forever. There's nothing like passing and signing such bullshit laws in the middle of the night to instill confidence in our elected officials.

If you haven't already, write your Representative

We have to keep up the pressure. All we have to loose are our rights. Just look at what happened to New York.

I think if that's what New York wants, fine. People can vote with with their feet and tax dollars.
Texas is going the other direction with a bill making it illegal to enforce bullshit federal regulations. Again, a state's choice and pussy Libs who don't like it can leave and go to NY or CA.

I say good for Texas. My adopted home for 19 years. It just sets a precedence that we really don't want sent. There are too many other states that could follow suit.

Look at a map. With New york state acting as a huge "gun free zone", they have effectively cut off all of the New England states from travel with a firearm that doesn't meet New York standards. Want to visit relatives in Vermont? You'd better not get stopped in New York along the way with anything prohibited, or you'll be staying there for a long time.

Oh and I'd prefer the first thing on the State Legislatures agenda for my beloved Lone Star State be, the passage of Open Carry.
