The Second Amendment March, scheduled for the 19th of April in Washington DC and other cities around the country has come under fire lately by the liberal media. They are spreading the lie that we are celebrating the bombing of the federal building in Oklahoma City in 1995. Nothing could be further from the truth. April 19th was chosen because it is patriots day. The day in 1775 that common people like you and me stood up to the tyrannical British government. The Brits marched on Lexington and Concord to disarm the colonial rabble. They didn't . The biggest outcome, other than sending the limeys running, was "the shot heard 'round the world". The start of the American revolution.
A lot of things happened on April 19th.
1775 Minutemen Captain John Parker orders not to fire unless fired upon
1782 Netherlands recognizes U.S.
1861 Lincoln orders blockade of Confederate ports (Civil War)
1897 1st American marathon ran, John J McDermott wins in 2:55:10 (Boston)
1910 Halley's comet seen by naked eye 1st time this trip
1919 Leslie Irvin of U.S. makes 1st parachute jump and free fall
1932 President Herbert Hoover suggests 5 day work week
1943 Jews attack Nazi occupation forces at Warsaw Ghetto
1951 General Douglas MacArthur ends his military career
1967 U.S. Surveyor III lands on Moon
1987 Gregory Robertson does 200-mph free fall to save unconscious skydiver
1989 Gun turret explodes on USS Iowa, killing 47 sailors
1993 The Branch Davidian Compound near Waco, Texas, is destroyed in a fire after 51-day stand-off; 76 people die, including 24 British nationals and 20 children
1995 Truck bomb at Federal Building in Oklahoma City, kills 168
2005 Pope Benedict XVI, Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, becomes the 265th pope
This is just a sample of some of the things that happened on April 19th. Not all of them are tragedies. So, when the liberal media says that we at the Second Amendment March are celebrating the Oklahoma City bombing, they are lying through their teeth. This is a peaceful gathering of people celebrating the freedom that we enjoy and remembering the brave patriots of Lexington and Concord. The very people that gave us the freedom to gather and speak.
