THE FOUR RULES

1. ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED.

2. NEVER POINT YOUR MUZZLE AT SOMETHING YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO DESTROY.

3. KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET AND YOU ARE READY TO SHOOT.

4. KNOW YOUR TARGET AND WHAT'S BEYOND.

BUT WHEN HE DOES, HE NEEDS IT VERY BADLY!"

Sam Adams, more than beer

“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquillity of servitude than the animating contest of freedom, — go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen”
Samuel Adams

Lincoln on power

"We must prevent these things being done, by either congresses or courts — The people — the people — are the rightful masters of both Congresses, and courts — not to overthrow the Constitution, but to overthrow the men who pervert it —" Abraham Lincoln

Home depot can kiss...

..my money goodbye.

Last month I got busy and built a small garden shed. We also found a janitor sink at a yard sale, with the faucets, for a reasonable price. Between the two projects, I spent a lot of time and money at home depot. When I installed the sink, I replaced to old faucets that the washer connected to. A couple of days later, the one on the hot water started leaking, badly. I grabbed some pliers off the workbench and tried to tighten it up. The threads broke off and I had a full stream of hot water running down the wall and the back of the washer. I closed the faucet. Now I've got to turn off the hot water and replace a faucet that I just replaced.

After they pissed me off at Home Depot, I went elsewhere since I had to buy the faucet and hose. Then I sent a letter to Home Depot. Here's the letter.

To whom it may concern.
In the month of September, A couple of projects had me making several trips to store #2104 in Des Moines Iowa. The projects I was working on weren't very large, but I did spend a considerable amount of money.  One of the projects was installing a janitor sink in my shop/laundry room. Since the hose bibbs for the washer were over 20 years old, I decided that it would be a good time to replace them. The day after changing things, I noticed a small stream of water shooting up from where the washer hose was connected to the faucet. When I tried to tighten it up, the threaded section twisted off. It seems I had gotten a defective faucet. After shuting off the hot water and removing the broken piece, I proceeded to the store.

Upon arrival at the store, I was informed that I was going to have to purchase a new faucet because I didn't have my receipt. They agreed that the faucet was broken and must have been defective as it was less than a week old. I understand the policy, yet there really needs to be some common sense. Not everyone saves their receipts. I'm one of those people. When I was done with the sink project, I was not expecting to replace a new faucet within a week. This was supposed to be a permenent fix.

No receipt, no warranty. Good policy you have there. I was in that store almost once a week and sometimes even more than that. So over a $5 faucet, I will never set foot in one of your stores again. There's a Menards right down the street. There are also 2 Lowes stores within 20 minutes. These are where I will be taking my business from now on.

I don't know how they will respond. And frankly I don't care. In the 8 years we have lived in this house, I would hate to guess how much money I've spent in that store. I am going to have to go get some tarps later today. I'll be going to Menards.

I live near Des Moines and have made purchases at the store to which you refer. I will spend my money elsewhere based on your experience. Thanks for sharing.
